  • Blacks, Indigenous people, People of Color (BIPOC)

  • Latinos, Asian and Pacific Islanders

  • Refugees

  • Immigrants

  • Forgotten historical figures, especially women

Throughout the readings, we will guide discussions using CASEL’s Social Emotional Learning (SEL) framework. We will allow participants to express their own thoughts using deep listening skills and making connections between the books and lived experiences.

History is about exposure to the world, outside of our own bubbles, and the positive connections we can make with others simply by learning about them. By sharing our stories and listening to others' experiences we create a more well-rounded lens in which to view the world. We feel this story-time series will provide just that, a space where children and families feel heard and represented, while simultaneously learning about new people, places, and ways of life.

Bella supports Denver and Jefferson County Schools through our partnership with Changing Perspectives, a non-profit dedicated to SEL (Social Emotional Learning). They have been providing curriculum for K-12 schools in the United States since 2019.

Through Bella’s grants, these schools have received professional development, teaching training, family engagement programming, coaching and an extensive SEL curriculum.  As a result of this partnership, we have been able to impact more than 4,000 students, empower 55 educators and support parents.
