East Colfax Community Collective: Helping People Now, Fighting for a Better Future Tomorrow
East Colfax Community Collective (EC3) works closely with many immigrant families in the Aurora, CO community. As an organization, they get their determination from a collective power. Their vision is to be a multicultural community where low and moderate-income residents and locally-owned businesses can thrive.
Who they are
EC3 is a community-driven, multicultural, socio-economically diverse advocacy organization of residents, local businesses and nonprofits, and allies.
What they do
They provide direct support to residents and businesses at risk of displacement through immediate relief and resource navigation, housing defense and legal assistance.
Why it’s important
As housing costs continue to soar, and economic inequality widening, more and more people are at risk for being displaced from their homes, especially Black, Hispanic, and Indigenous communities, as well as low-income renters, people with disabilities, and older adults, according to the National Community Reinvestment Coalition. EC3 uses the collective power of community members and allies to push back against the system, providing crucial assistance to those in need, while fighting for better legislation at the county and city level.
